Gosh, how odd -- are there really no comments on this post?after nearly a month? Are you referring to Solitary, Poor et al? That is of course, from Thomas Hobbes, "Leviathon" -- describing the consition of mankind in a state of nature. Or as a scurrilous joke had it, my ex. Or sex with my ex. (although I must tell you, that was not at all true.) He is short, though.
Hobbes is one of my favorite authors, a veritable symphonist of the English language.
