There Is No Skirting This Issue, Or, You Are What You Wear, Part Deux

Dedicated readers of this blog (or This Blog, as Charlie Pierce likes to say) will remember a post from a couple of months ago entitled You Are What You Wear, which explored, via a New York Times article, how your costume might affect your clients, your staff, and even yourself. Now comes an article in Jezebel entitled Forget The Glass Ceiling, We Have Hemlines To Consider, which discusses image advice to female attorneys from the blog Above The Law. After a whole lot of back-and-forth about women, clothes, sexism, etc. the advice seems to boil down to “choose the most conservative option — the skirt suit.”
